Ford F-350 Used Engines
The F-350 takes the same engine range as the F-250, but the mix is different: a far higher share of these trucks are diesels, and a far higher share have done real work. That matters when you are sourcing, because a used Power Stroke out of a fleet truck and one out of a private tow rig are not the same purchase even at identical mileage. Everything we list carries a compression test and, on diesels, an oil analysis.

How to pick the right one
Read the 8th VIN digit, and on dual-rear-wheel trucks tell us the cab and chassis configuration, because the feed splits chassis-cab F-350s from pickup F-350s and the accessory drive and oil pan can differ. On the 6.0L and 6.4L Power Stroke, ask what has been done to the donor: a 6.0L with studded heads and a delete-free EGR upgrade is a very different proposition to a stock one. On the 6.7L, the generation matters — the 2011–2014 engines use the Bosch CP4.2 pump that can fail catastrophically and take the whole fuel system with it.
What usually fails on these engines
The 6.0L Power Stroke is the single most-replaced engine in the Super Duty range, and the sequence is consistent: the EGR cooler fails, coolant enters the exhaust, the cooling system pressurises, and the head bolts stretch until the gaskets lift. The 6.4L has its own profile — fuel dilution in the oil from the in-cylinder DPF regeneration, cracked pistons and a radiator that leaks. The 7.3L, by contrast, commonly reaches 400,000 miles; its weak points are the injector harness, the cam position sensor and the HPOP. We note which of these have been addressed on every diesel we list.

Ford F-350 used engines - frequently asked questions
Which engines did the Ford F-350 use?
Across 1990 to today the Ford F-350 was built with 7.5L V8 / 7.3L IDI diesel, 7.3L Power Stroke, 5.4L Triton V8 / 6.8L V10, 5.4L Triton 3V / 6.8L V10 3V, 6.0L Power Stroke, 6.4L Power Stroke, 6.2L Boss V8, 6.7L Power Stroke and 6.2L Boss / 6.7L Power Stroke. The table above lists which one belongs to each generation, with the engine family and VIN character that identifies it.
How do I know which engine is in my Ford F-350?
The eighth character of the VIN encodes the engine on almost every US vehicle, and that is the only reliable way to settle it - two cars of the same year and trim can carry different engines. Send us the VIN and we check the engine code against your vehicle before anything ships.
Will an engine from a different year fit my Ford F-350?
Read the 8th VIN digit, and on dual-rear-wheel trucks tell us the cab and chassis configuration, because the feed splits chassis-cab F-350s from pickup F-350s and the accessory drive and oil pan can differ. What comes with a used Ford F-350 engine?
Every engine is compression and leak-down tested before it is listed and the test sheet ships in the box. Fitment is VIN matched before the order goes out, every engine carries a written warranty with labour coverage available, and freight is free anywhere in the lower 48.
