Jeep Compass Used Transmissions
The Compass has had two separate lives and the transmissions do not cross between them. The 2007–2017 MK car shares its platform with the Dodge Caliber and uses the CVT2 continuously variable unit or a manual. The 2017-up MP car is built on the Fiat small-wide platform with a conventional six-speed or the 948TE nine-speed. Both were sold as 2017 models, so on that year the VIN is the only way to tell.

How to pick the right one
Establish MK or MP from the VIN before anything else, particularly on a 2017 car where both were sold. Then tell us front-drive or four-wheel-drive, because on the MP car that is what separates the 6F24 from the 948TE. On the MK car, a CVT2 and a 6-speed automatic are not interchangeable and the CVT needs its own cooler circuit and control module.
What usually fails on these transmissions
The CVT2 in the MK car is the one that brings Compasses to us. It is a Jatco unit asked to work in a heavier vehicle than it was designed around, it runs hot, and the belt and pulleys wear — the classic sequence is a shudder from a stop, then a flare on acceleration, then limp mode. An auxiliary cooler and strict fluid intervals are what keep them alive, so replace the cooler when you replace the unit. On the MP car, the 948TE nine-speed had shift-quality complaints that Chrysler addressed with software, so a rough-shifting one may need a reflash rather than a replacement.
What ships with every unit
- Pressure tested with the solenoid readings recorded, and the fluid condition inspected and reported.
- Fitment matched — send us the model year, engine, drivetrain and the RPO option code or ID tag and we confirm the part before the order ships.
- Written warranty on every transmission, with labour coverage available.
- Free freight anywhere in the lower 48, crated on a pallet to a commercial address or a terminal.
Replacing the engine too? See our Compass used engines. Full terms are in the transmission warranty policy, and the complete catalogue is at used transmissions.
Jeep Compass used transmissions - frequently asked questions
Which transmissions did the Jeep Compass use?
Across 2007 to today the Jeep Compass was built with CVT2 (JF011E), 5-speed manual, 6-speed auto, 6F24, 948TE, 6-speed manual and 8-speed auto. The table above lists which one belongs to each generation, with the transmission designation and option code that identifies it.
How do I identify the right transmission for my Jeep Compass?
Four things decide it: model year, engine, drivetrain, and the option or RPO code. That code is the one most people do not have to hand and the one that settles it - on a GM vehicle it is on the glovebox or door-jamb sticker, on a Chrysler it is on the build sheet, and on a Ford it is on a tag on the case. Send us the VIN and the code and we confirm the unit before anything ships.
Will a transmission from a different year fit my Jeep Compass?
Establish MK or MP from the VIN before anything else, particularly on a 2017 car where both were sold. Then tell us front-drive or four-wheel-drive, because on the MP car that is what separates the 6F24 from the 948TE.

What comes with a used Jeep Compass transmission?
Every transmission is pressure tested with the solenoid readings recorded and the test sheet ships in the box. The unit is matched to your VIN and option code before the order goes out, carries a written warranty with labour coverage available, and freight is free anywhere in the lower 48.
