Nissan Rogue Used Transmissions
Every automatic Rogue uses a continuously variable transmission, so this page is really about one question: which generation of CVT, and what condition is it in. That matters more here than on almost anything else we sell, because these units are the single most replaced transmission in the Nissan range and Nissan itself extended the warranty on a number of them. Read the failure notes before you buy, and check your own coverage first.

How to pick the right one
Generation and drivetrain. The 2013-to-2014 change is a real one — the JF011E and the JF016E are different units with different cooling arrangements — and front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions carry different output housings. If the car is a hybrid, that CVT is a dedicated part. Before you order anything, check whether your VIN is still inside Nissan's extended CVT coverage; on a number of build ranges it ran to ten years or 120,000 miles and a covered car may cost you nothing.
What usually fails on these transmissions
The Rogue CVT fails in a recognisable sequence: a shudder or judder from a standing start, then a flare or a lag on acceleration, then a whine, then limp mode. The underlying causes are heat and the steel belt and pulleys wearing, and heat is the one you can do something about. If you are fitting a replacement, fit or clean the cooler circuit at the same time and keep to a strict fluid interval with the correct NS-2 or NS-3 fluid — a generic CVT fluid will shorten its life sharply. We run every CVT and report the fluid condition rather than leaving you to find out.
What ships with every unit
- Pressure tested with the solenoid readings recorded, and the fluid condition inspected and reported.
- Fitment matched — send us the model year, engine, drivetrain and the RPO option code or ID tag and we confirm the part before the order ships.
- Written warranty on every transmission, with labour coverage available.
- Free freight anywhere in the lower 48, crated on a pallet to a commercial address or a terminal.
Replacing the engine too? See our Nissan used engines. Full terms are in the transmission warranty policy, and the complete catalogue is at used transmissions.
Nissan Rogue used transmissions - frequently asked questions
Which transmissions did the Nissan Rogue use?
Across 2008 to today the Nissan Rogue was built with JF011E (RE0F10A), JF011E AWD, JF016E (RE0F10D/E), JF016E AWD, Hybrid CVT and Xtronic CVT. The table above lists which one belongs to each generation, with the transmission designation and option code that identifies it.
How do I identify the right transmission for my Nissan Rogue?
Four things decide it: model year, engine, drivetrain, and the option or RPO code. That code is the one most people do not have to hand and the one that settles it - on a GM vehicle it is on the glovebox or door-jamb sticker, on a Chrysler it is on the build sheet, and on a Ford it is on a tag on the case. Send us the VIN and the code and we confirm the unit before anything ships.
Will a transmission from a different year fit my Nissan Rogue?

What comes with a used Nissan Rogue transmission?
Every transmission is pressure tested with the solenoid readings recorded and the test sheet ships in the box. The unit is matched to your VIN and option code before the order goes out, carries a written warranty with labour coverage available, and freight is free anywhere in the lower 48.
