Ford Fusion Used Transmissions

Fusion transmissions are almost all 6F35, which sounds simple and is not: the unit was revised repeatedly across the car's life and the calibration is engine-specific, so the model year and the engine both matter. The exceptions are the V6 and Sport cars, which use the larger 6F50 or 6F55, and the hybrids, which use a planetary eCVT that is a completely different device.

How to pick the right one

Model year, engine and drivetrain. The 6F35 is common across most of the range but the valve body calibration is tied to the engine, so tell us whether it is going behind a 2.5, a 1.5 EcoBoost or a 2.0 EcoBoost. All-wheel-drive cars use a different output and transfer unit, so a front-drive unit will not do. If the car is a hybrid or an Energi, the eCVT is a dedicated part and cannot be substituted with a conventional automatic in either direction.

What usually fails on these transmissions

The 6F35 has two known issues. The first is the pump, which on earlier units can fail and starve the transmission with very little warning. The second affected 2013–2016 cars: a shift solenoid fault that could cause a harsh downshift or a momentary loss of drive, which Ford addressed under a service campaign. Both are reasons to buy a later unit where your car will accept one. The eCVT, by contrast, is one of the most reliable transmissions in our catalogue and almost never comes in for internal failure.

What ships with every unit

  • Pressure tested with the solenoid readings recorded, and the fluid condition inspected and reported.
  • Fitment matched — send us the model year, engine, drivetrain and the RPO option code or ID tag and we confirm the part before the order ships.
  • Written warranty on every transmission, with labour coverage available.
  • Free freight anywhere in the lower 48, crated on a pallet to a commercial address or a terminal.

Ford Fusion used transmissions - frequently asked questions

Which transmissions did the Ford Fusion use?

Across 2006 to 2020 the Ford Fusion was built with 6F35, 6F50, G6 (Getrag), eCVT and 6F55. The table above lists which one belongs to each generation, with the transmission designation and option code that identifies it.

How do I identify the right transmission for my Ford Fusion?

Four things decide it: model year, engine, drivetrain, and the option or RPO code. That code is the one most people do not have to hand and the one that settles it - on a GM vehicle it is on the glovebox or door-jamb sticker, on a Chrysler it is on the build sheet, and on a Ford it is on a tag on the case. Send us the VIN and the code and we confirm the unit before anything ships.

Will a transmission from a different year fit my Ford Fusion?

Model year, engine and drivetrain. The 6F35 is common across most of the range but the valve body calibration is tied to the engine, so tell us whether it is going behind a 2.5, a 1.5 EcoBoost or a 2.0 EcoBoost.

What comes with a used Ford Fusion transmission?

Every transmission is pressure tested with the solenoid readings recorded and the test sheet ships in the box. The unit is matched to your VIN and option code before the order goes out, carries a written warranty with labour coverage available, and freight is free anywhere in the lower 48.
